Ludhiana: Lions Club International Multiple District 321 had organized a mega seminar on Lions Quest on Saturday at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana with the objective of providing good guidance and right track to our youth. Teachers and parents from various schools of Ludhiana participated in the deliberation, addressed by various dignitaries of Lions Clubs International.
Lion Yogesh Soni, function chairman; Lion Harish Dua, presiding officer; Rajeev Mittal, guest of honour; Mrs Paramjeet Chahal, guest of honour; Rekha Shah, presenter; and Mona Singh, principal, Guru Nanak Public School, lit the ceremonial lamp. The seminar was followed by an inaugural ceremony with a 'shabad gyan' and an orchestra performance by school students in the presence of chief guest Ravneet Singh Bittu (member of parliament) and special guest Bharat Bhushan Ashu (MLA).
Harish Dua, presiding officer, said: "The Quest programme was organized with the main aim of providing good guidance to our kids, as they are falling prey to watching bad things on the internet and getting into wrong company." Sushil Aggarwala, keynote speaker, said the problems faced by the youth were increasing without the knowledge of parents. "They are facing depression, taking drugs, and their lifestyle is changing. It's time for parents to look after their children and try to inculcate positive values. All this can be done with the support of parents and teachers," he added.
Megha Vaid, a parent, said: "The session was really inspiring, and there were so many things to grasp. It was all about positive values regarding children, and the problems they are facing. Such seminars should be encouraged." Principal Mona Singh said: "We all have to come out of our comfort zone for the betterment of our youth. The aim of the teacher is not only to impart information, but rather the need is to interact with children and channelize their energy."
Government school teacher Jaswinder Kaur said: "I am really inspired with the motivational talks that actions are more important than words."
The seminar ended on a note to inculcate positivity in youth, and always be ready to help children in situations of distress.
